Many people associate Christmas with the hustle and bustle of shopping streets and markets. Sometimes this can be pleasant, but at other times it can become stressful and burdensome. A traditional part of the festive season is having that scenic element of lovely views and singing robins and it doesn’t have to be limited to a Christmas card image! You can see sweet Christmas scenes for yourself by going on a trip to the countryside!
Come to the country!
Going to the countryside, especially if to a national park, involves great fun for all the family. If you live in an urban area, it also offers a welcome bit of variation where you can clear your head too. Why not consider some of great activities you can get up to:
- A beautiful walk – many countryside areas have a ‘right to roam’ (though check first using an ordnance survey map) so you can explore and plan out a route which suits you!
- Go on a nature trail – a number of countryside areas have established paths and trails you can follow, often incorporating sculptures of (or even real) wildlife. This is particularly enjoyable for children!
- Have a winter picnic – it might not be summery weather, but you can still bring plenty of positivity and lightness when you pack a winter-themed picnic! You can perhaps eat as you walk and bring some festive fancies too! How about mince pies and a flask of mulled wine? Now there’s an idea!
- Great local sports – a great one for the adults is to get involved in some traditional country activities, such as archery and clay pigeon shooting!
Make the most of it!
